A few years ago the three buildings (3404, 3410, 3420 Hingston) were all sold to new owners. Since then everything has gone down hill, and many tenants are unhappy and/or have left. Problems include:

* Refusing to heat the apartments to the common legal minimum
* Being especially rude to tenants, particularly to anglophones, and even refusing to rent to at least one prospective tenant based on their language (we overheard them discussing this after the prospective tenant had left)
* Refusing to do necessary repairs
* Going into the apartments without permission, illegally, particularly when tenants were in their beds, etc...
* Increasing rents far beyond the legal amounts
...

The building used to have fairly low rents. They've been trying to harass old tenants to move out, and then up the rents by large margins. They have been taken to court and beaten multiple times, but the courts don't seem to have enough teeth to penalize them properly.

An interesting legal side note for anyone interested in digging: the new owners have a fake name that they use to run the building. It is "TCHON LU", it is not a real human, but somehow they have figured a way to do this, presumably as a way to shelter themselves from liability.

Don't rent here, and if you do, take them to court!
